1. TACOMA STRINGER. We're looking for someone to join our team to help out in the rapidly growing market between Seattle and Olympia, including Tacoma, Lakewood, Fife, DuPont, etc. The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual who needs little managerial direction and can work on his own. You need to be energetic, a quick learner, able to keep good records, businesslike, dependable, and if you can write a little, that would be a plus. There are 3 parts to being a stringer, and 3 ways to earn:
1. Distributing is a quick way to make some quick cash. We pay per drop, in cash, the day you complete your route (plus gas) And you can develop your route as you go along, so there's no limit on how much you can earn. You must have a driver's license and proof of insurance.
2. Sales is the path to the serious money. We pay HUGE commissions not only on new business, but on the accounts you maintain. The best way to go about it is to simply leave a rate card at your distribution sites. If you ask, they will buy.
3. Writing is a part of it, too. We want you to cover occasional events in the area, particularly entertainment and light features. Pays per word, and may develop into a regular column.

2. MANAGING EDITOR. Requires demonstrable success in all areas of publishing. Salaried.

3. SALES MANAGER.

The SITTING DUCK is seeking an advertising sales manager. This is a top-level managerial position.

Job description: solicit advertising for the South Sound's most popular, and fasstest growing independent newspaper. This is a managerial position

Qualifications: demonstrable success in media sales, preferably print; familiarity with small business strategies for advertising, publicity, and marketing; ability to help reruit, organize, teach, and manage other sales personnel; professional demeanor and integrity; high self-motivation; ability to work with a minimum of managerial oversight; willingness to employ an aggressive cold call technique; ability to develop marketing ideas and programs; good public relatioins and account management skills. Some graphic design experience may be necessary

Compensation: salary plus commission. Expenses. The successful applicant should expect to earn $70k his/her first year, with sharp and steady increases each subsequent year.

4. DISTRIBUTORS. Paid good daily rate. A quick way to make some quick cash. Drivers' license and proof of insurance required.

5. WRITERS & PHOTOJOURNALISTS. Regular music & entertainment writer/editor (club scene); reporter for local government coverage. Freelancers request Writers' Guidelines. Cartoonists are also invited to submit.

5. STRINGERS in Tacoma, Yelm, Centralia, Chehalis, Shelton, Lakewood, etc., do a little bit of everything, including distributing, covering local events, and calling on advertisers.

6. PHOTOGRAPHERS. Digital professionals for assignments.
